The US SEC has received a proposal from the Chicago Board Options Exchange to allow staking for the Fidelity Ethereum ETF.
By allowing the exchange-traded fund to stake its Ethereum holdings, this proposal hopes to increase investor returns. Committing cryptocurrency holdings to support a blockchain network’s operations is known as staking.
Validators are chosen according to how many tokens they stake in Ethereum’s proof-of-stake system, which aids network security and transaction processing. For their contributions, participants receive rewards, usually in the form of extra tokens.
The news positively impacted Ethereum’s price, which increased marginally to $1,960.
Fidelity Ethereum ETF To Be Approved?
The Fidelity Ethereum ETF would be one of the first ETFs in the United States to include staking if approved. Thanks to this, investors can profit from staking without handling the technical details themselves.
This was anticipated by Bitcoin Suisse, which also predicted that financial behemoths would begin institutional rollups on Ethereum and that Ethereum-staking ETFs might beat Bitcoin ETFs.
According to Bitcoin Suisse, the cryptocurrency bull market was also expected to continue in 2025, with Bitcoin (BTC) hitting a new all-time high of over $180,000.
